Happy May, everyone, and thank you for your continued involvement and support of ADVANCE. April was another busy month and we are excited to share a few updates. Notably, Version 4.0 of the PCORnet CDM was released on 1/2/2018, the official implementation date set by PCORnet is 7/15/2018. ADVANCE expects to have these changes implemented by late June. Many of the additional fields and data for the new tables have already been provided by the ADVANCE data partners and implemented as custom FQHC data elements in the ADVANCE data warehouse.
These data will become part of the official PCORnet CDM:
- New tables: PROVIDER, MED_ADMIN, OBS_CLIN and OBS_GEN
- New fields added to the following existing tables: DEMOGRAPHIC, ENCOUNTER, PRESCRIBING, DISPENSING, PRO_CM, DIAGNOSIS and PROCEDURES.
Our Health Disparities Collaborative Research Group (CRG) continues to produce great work. CRG Project Coordinator, William Pinnock, shares an update, “We in the Health Disparities CRG have been working hard to craft our recommendations for the CDM. Currently, we are in the home stretch and are excited about our upcoming in-person CRG meeting on June 5th where we will finalize the list of recommendations.”
Dr. Nathalie Huguet gave a wonderful Grand Rounds presentation last month: The Impact of the Affordable Care Act in Community Health Centers. You can view the presentation here.
This month we are excited to host a joint presentation on social determinants of health with a literature review by Aldreen Venzon, MS, BSN, RN, and an OCHIN tool discussion with Dr. Rachel Gold. You are welcome to join us for this exciting online event on Friday, May 18th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM PT. If you are interested in registering for the event, please follow the link here.
I hope you all have a wonderful May and enjoy the warmer weather. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or others on our ADVANCE team with any questions, comments, or other feedback.
