The OCHIN-led ADVANCE Clinical Research Network is proud to announce our participation in the Healthcare Worker Exposure Response & Outcomes (HERO) Registry. The HERO Registry is a national community of healthcare workers interested in participating in future research studies to improve our understanding of COVID-19, including ways to keep healthcare workers and their families safe and healthy. The HERO Registry is part of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) funded HERO research program, which leverages the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network (PCORnet) to facilitate rapid-cycle research—allowing us to study and address the problems healthcare workers experience both in real time and over time.
The HERO Registry is open to anyone who works in a setting in which people receive health care, including nurses, social workers, therapists, physician, emergency responders, food service workers, environmental services workers, interpreters, transporters, and more. Signing up is free and only takes a few minutes on the HERO Registry website. Registry participants will receive surveys, opportunities to participate in future studies, and learnings from the HERO research community. By signing up, healthcare workers will have an opportunity to make their voices heard and shape the prioritization of registry activities.
OCHIN Investigator, Dr. Jonathon Todd, serves on the HERO Registry Subcommittee and writes: We are excited to invite OCHIN member clinic healthcare workers to participate in the HERO Registry. This important new registry will help us better understand both the physical and mental health effects on our community of outstanding healthcare workers, who are truly our first responders to this pandemic and who continue their heroic efforts to care for all our patients in this uncertain time. Additionally, we are pleased to note that the registry includes all healthcare workers who continue to serve their communities within health care settings, including sanitation staff, food service employees, and many other important healthcare workers during this crisis. We will be coordinating our efforts with OCHIN clinic leadership to inform healthcare workers about the registry.
