Welcome to February, everyone! January went by fast, and it was filled with lots of activity. The biggest body of work for ADVANCE was the completion and submission of our application to join the People Centered Research Foundation (PCRF), which would mean the continuation of our participation in PCORnet past the end of our current contract with PCORI (which ends 8/31/2018). We submitted our application on the due date, January 26.
The move of PCORnet to PCRF has also been referred to as PCORnet 2.0. Its goals will be to continue the work of PCORnet 1.0: improve health and health care research by continuing to engage stakeholders in the design, conduct, dissemination, and implementation of research and analysis. During the next phase of ADVANCE, the following partners will continue to contribute data and collaborate with us in developing research to support the goals of the PCRF: HCN, Fenway, the Robert Graham Center/HealthLandscape, and OHSU. If awarded, ADVANCE will receive infrastructure support from PCRF for the period of two years. In addition, we will be eligible to continue collaborate in development of models, methods, and tools that will benefit PCORnet 2.0 research as well as being eligible to collaborate in PCORnet 2.0 research projects. We expect to hear back on our application in early May 2018.
We would also like to welcome our newest Research Associate who will be joining the ADVANCE team, Dr. Rebecca Block! Dr. Block is a social scientist with a background in healthcare systems and patient experience, and expertise in cancer care. She will be moving into the Project Director role for ADVANCE. In addition to her ADVANCE role, she will also be serving as the new Project Manager for the recently renewed Health Disparities Collaborative Research Group (CRG). Welcome Rebecca!
Finally, we are proud to announce that Dr. Deborah Cohen, PhD, from ADVANCE partner OHSU Family Medicine, will be discussing cardiovascular risk reduction in a presentation titled: “Early Findings from AHRQ’s Large D&I Initiative to Improve Cardiovascular Preventive Care in Primary Care Practices – EvidenceNOW.” You are welcome to join us for this exciting online event on Friday, February 9th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM PT. Please register prior to the event here. For our full winter/spring lineup of presentations, please visit our recent Grand Rounds blog post.
Thank you again to everyone who helped make our PCRF application possible! We couldn’t do it without all of you.
Jon
