The ADVANCE Data Warehouse (DW) is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive database on community-based health care and outcomes, representing over 17 million patients nationwide. As the single largest source of primary care data within PCORnet®, ADVANCE combines electronic health records (EHR) using the PCORnet® Common Data Model, a standardized, research-ready format designed for scalable, multi-site studies. This shared Common Data Model makes varied types of data, including demographics, vital signs, labs, clinical observations, diagnoses, and more, available for research across a diverse and expansive set of participating sites.

ABOUT PCORnet®

ADVANCE is a network participating in PCORnet®

As a network partner in PCORnet®, a national resource funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®), ADVANCE is able to leverage high-quality health data, patient partnership, and research expertise deliver fast, trustworthy answers that advance health outcomes. As a “network of networks,” PCORnet represents data from everyday health care encounters—more than 47 million people across the U.S. each year.

The PCORnet® Common Data Model

Data from individual PCORnet® Clinical Research Networks (CRNs) are standardized using the PCORnet® Common Data Model (CDM). The PCORnet® CDM is a foundational element of the PCORnet infrastructure that brings EHRs, claims, and other data sources from all eight PCORnet® CRNs into a common language that can be integrated and analyzed. Rigorous quality checks through data curation are a cornerstone of the CDM, ensuring that data are reliable, accurate, and suitable for meaningful research.

We provide robust coverage of patients in the Pacific Northwest, adding important geographic diversity to PCORnet’s national data landscape.

Inclusive Insights

We collect longitudinal data from populations often excluded in traditional datasets, including uninsured individuals and those receiving public health coverage.
